What is the difference between graphics and gaming graphics?

i just bought a new laptop which has an okay gaming graphics rating but a low graphics rating. Does this effect my gaming needs? If yes, does it means I have to buy a new graphic card?

Not sure, but for about 90% of all laptops you wont be able to change the graphics card to a better one.

horsepower.
general graphics is why you see on your screen.

gaming is for complex video rendering. A dedicated gpu for video.

If your talking about the windows graphics rating I wouldn’t worry about that the games rating is for the windows games mostly an graphics rating for Windows features like Aero. Most laptops these days in your case a new one have a good graphics cards inbuilt and so all you need is more ram as video memory is often shared with ram.

Also I’d suggest going to your graphics cards website and downloading new drivers for your video card this will also increase you performance over the factory drivers and increase new game compatibility. To find out the version of your graphics card run the dxdiag tool in windows by choosing start run and input the following dxdiag hit enter and up will come all info on your system. Select the display tab to find out your graphics card name.
